My browsers are crawling! I run Firefox and Google Beta.
Both take forever to load pages. But my internet is fast, I'm in Korea teaching. I get my movies and tv shows fast! The net here is killer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its just my browsers!!!!!!! They started out ok, but rapidly have deteriorated!
My laptop is an Acer Aspire, duo, 160 hdd in 2 partitions with c/d, it runs xp pro with sp3, and I only have my OS and programs on the drive, I have a stand alone 500 gb HDD for everything! I have 3 gb of ram.
Eset Nod 32, some great spyware/malware progs, you know the drill. I keep everything clean. I close down all downloading and message pros so as to try to speed things up, but to no avail.

So why would my browsers crawl?

If anyone has a clue, or a box to click or something then tell me. I'm not super sharp in tweaking things so don't get too technical unless you can explain it to a 4 year old!!!!!

Have a look in the Event Viewer for any errors at the time you are experiencing problems.

To open the Event Viewer go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer. Alternately, go to Start > Run and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter.

Check in all the categories.

If you find an error that occurred at the time right-click on it and select properties. Copy the information in the window and post it back here. This will help us diagnose your problem.

In addition to Budapest's suggestion, you may also wish to use CCleaner, if you are not already doing that. If you don't have it, you can download it at http://www.ccleaner.com/download It's a free tool. After installing it, double-click on the new icon on the desktop which is a broom with a C around it. On the page that opens up, click the Run Cleaner button down in the lower right-hand corner and confirm that you want to delete the things which are checked. Note: if you use your history, rather than bookmarking sites you want to remember, your history will be wiped by this tool. If you want to keep your history, uncheck it before running CCleaner.

thats pretty much it-the application error in nview there are so many and they happen about every second
the warning in system, the Tcpip is quite frequent, as is the error message


Is this significant? Is there an easy way to correct these?

I would try uninstalling and then reinstalling Firefox.

But its also the same for google Chrome

Log on as an administrator, go Start > Run and type: "cmd". In the window that appears type: "netsh winsock reset". When the program is finished, you will receive the message: "Successfully reset the Winsock Catalog. You must restart the machine in order to complete the reset." Close the command box and reboot your computer.

Go Start > Run > type: "cmd" In the window that appears type: "ipconfig /flushdns". Close the command box.

Go Start > Control Panel > Network Connections. Right click on your default connection, usually Local Area Connection or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up, and and choose Properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item. Select the radio button that says "Obtain DNS servers automatically". Reboot. Warning: Some Internet Service Providers need specific DNS settings. You need to make sure that you know if such DNS settings are required before you make this change.

Is this something to do periodically as maintenance?

It's not normally needed unless you are experiencing a problem, but it won't hurt.
