OK, I got one for ya, . .
I noticed so many months ago that there was a sudden tint that cover everything on the desk top,
it was a yellow tint, subtle but noticable, I questioned it, here in BC, quite awhile back, but never
solved it, now that I am having some problems with my 5300US, I back here again working on this ,
4403US, and am a little more concerned since I have a few things to fix.
Now the tint, which still exist and pops up now and again, has, (that is if related and I think it is),
is somehow effecting my word pad, I mean that the font color, yellow in the drop down menue has
changed to white ! It even has changed the color selector which is yellow to a white color, so the
font selected is actually white. Now I have noticed in a message program, somewhat like this one,
the smiley's some are white where they were once yellow and some have partial white tints to
them, I really don't know what to think about this, excepting something is going or there are
wires crossed somewhere ?
Any one have any ideas ? Have you ever seen anything like this. I don't have any problems on the 5300 like this and have noticed some analysis figures are in one or two cases a little different, these system are so similar, I may be able to track down a lead.

What happens if you swap the monitors?

Haven't tried that, I'll give it a whrl, . . asap.
In the case that you may have some diagnostic experience, . .Maybe this sounds like something
you know about ?
Another anomaly is that on occasion, especially when naming new files in My Documents,
the letters which I type are the wrong ones, so the word being spelled is way out.
I tried switching key boards in this case but to no avail.

Regarding the monitor, assuming it is an older CRT, what you are describing sounds like what I've seen in a failing monitor, too.
The diagnostic tool of switching monitors to see if the problem goes with the monitor or stays with the PC is a logical first step.

I just had the yellow tint and clicked off the monitor and clicked it back on, the screen comes back and looks like brand new crisp and clear.
So it must be something to do with the monitor, of course I don't know what ?

You should try degaussing the monitor (look in the manual for how to do this).

Thanks for the tip Budapest,
I belive that I inadvertently may have completed a preliminary step in degaussing when I turned the monitor off and back on, that seemed to work pretty good, I'll locate the monitor manual for this and check it out.

Funny Thing is, in word pad for example, when you click the drop down list for font color,
the yellow is actually white in the little block, and that's what you get, white, the blue is actually black and you get black, . . the black is black and so on. I do not think it is the monitor as this would indicate not.

OK,
I found a single solitary file in a search for flash player; XPT 856 bytes
I opened with notepad, the following is some of what it contains;
XPCOM
TypeLib
X " u€ F Bդl+€c ›W
XœQŒ„ ›W 8 OnsISupports FlashIObject /€`’ €evaluate FlashIScriptablePlugin `
` ` € €€€ ` €`
` € %€€€€ 1€€‘ ;€‘€ F€‘€‘ Q€‘` _€‘`‘ m€‘ s€‘ }€‘€‘ ‰€‘`‘ •€‘€€‘ €‘€`‘ €‘€` €‘€‘ €‘€ €’ € €IsPlaying Play StopPlay TotalFrames CurrentFrame GotoFrame Rewind Back Forward Pan PercentLoaded
I am not really sure if this is a remnent of what might be left
if I uninstalled flash player, which I probably did at one time, (sorry about that ), but should I have flash player ?
Is this file effecting my functions, such as those I was having with my keyboard and this color problem ?
I found this;

Great Scot !! Budapest ! You might have something !
I can not possibly understand but it appears that, well at least the word pad works and display fine, let me check some other programs and I'll get back to you, . .
I mean I just connected to the other monitor I have not done a complete switch yet.
I was sure I did switch them before and double checked after reading your post, and damn, I
must have missed that !
