Hi All. I'm not sure if this belongs here, so we'll see.
I have a friend who finally wants a computer. He is 60, which wouldn't normally matter except that he takes an adversarial view of computer technology. I am able...thanks in large part to what I've learned here...to tutor him in the basics and utilities. But, what's the best computer for him?
I considered steering him towards an Emachine. His interests are Internet and email, and possibly a flight simulator game. He will be able to upgrade in a year or so to something more powerful.
Your opinions/suggestions please?
Your friend, and mine,
Sharon

Reliability and support are big issues especially for a novice. I, personally am not fond of eMachines, but I'm only familiar with the old ones. I don't have an opinion since Gateway bought them out. If I were to buy one, out of the box, I'd prefer a Dell

Ahh, of course. Dell! I've found a lot of real positive things about the eMachine, but Dell does have the Walmart special. I did a search, AFTER I posted here...you have me spoiled.
Thanks Mark!
