Hi,
I'm having problems with my desktop. It refuses to switch on!..If I unplug it from the mains and leave for 10 seconds and then try again, the hard drive light flickers for a second but the PC doesnt fire up.I've had a look inside and took the heatsink off and the processor and when i put everything back together it worked...for a week...and now the same problem again..I've tried the same method again and put some new thermal paste on but no joy.
The motherboard is a ECS K8M800-M2 with a AMD Sempon processor.
Any ideas out there as to what it could potentially be?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Try reseating your memory if not it sounds like your power supply is calling it quits.
Post back and tell us how it goes when you reseat your memory.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Sadly reseating the memory hasnt worked.Same problem,HD light flickers for a second and then nothing.
Looks like a new power supply, unless there are any other thoughts out there.

Well...I'd like to know if the fans are working.
IMO, that's a far better indicator than a hard drive light as to whether the PS might be doing its job.
I think it's a good idea to always have a spare PS, even if it's one of the 250-watt jobs boxmakers (Dell, Gateway, etc.) use. It allows users to make quick checks of the existing PSU.

You can pick up a fan for about 3-4$ I know its not going to fix the problem but it can keep your case cooler
(and in this situation it can be a troubleshooting tool.)
EDIT:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835221004That should be the right connector.
If thats not a possibility then try swapping PSUs if you have a spare.
