I have big time trouble with my cdrw drive on my laptop. I did a system restore to factory setting now my easy cd creator program wont copy. Says unknown or unexpected error then spits out the disk. I also have hp record now and it says no detectable or compatible rewritable drive on your system check for updates? I have a hitachi cdrw drive. Here the catch i can send anything likes pics or so to a cdrw and it sends and works. But when software is involved nothing. Please help. I want to make a back up of a entire disk.

Try this out, Go into device manager, right click my computer, left click manage, left click device manager. Now go to where it says dvd/cd..rom drives it should expand to show you what you have. Now uninstall your cdrw drive and reboot! See if windows picks it up. I would tell you what updates to "update" but you need to know the exact name and number of your drive! Let me know if the first doesn't work, and give me the model number of your drive! I will you some firmware updates!

I have alread done that but let me do it again. I tell you the results very soon.

I looked at jet audio and its only audio copier. I need a data copier. I want to copy a full disk. Know of any free software to do that.

the exact name and the exact model number of it. Or at least the full name of the drive it should show it under the device manager! But Im thinking it is Roxio messing you up!

sorry hitachi was my old laptops drive. Um my new is a toshiba dvd cdrw drive but in the thing it just says dvd rom and the numbers sd-r2312. Hope this helps in solving the problem!!

Is roxio a bad name of cd burner software? or just not as good of features or???

O and fireburner is a demo? It says for test burning only?? Can i actually burn a whole disk at least once? Or, is there a free software that i can use. I need to make a backup copy of a disk soon.

Ill try it. It says it comes with spyware and you know i had a bad problem with that stuff a while back but i am protected by almost every program out there,adaware,spybot,hijackthis,spware guard and so on lol

Ill do them both. If theres adware then well out of my pc it goes. I love ashampoo!! Its a demo but it makes my cd burner work. I have had it before and it ran out of time. I will do a little registry deleting and reinstall. I hope it works! Wish me luck! CGM3

I dont know if it fixed the prob right now. The disk was bad! It still plays but the burner software says it cant read from disk. Is there any hope for fxing the errors for my programs? LIke hp record now or the other one?

right click my computer...left click manage....left click...event viewer.. under applications what error's is it showing? The under system what error's is it showing? If the cd is bad it will say somthing to the effect of the disc has a bad block, if it is the cd drive, it will say things like during a pagefile operation such and such caused an error.

Lots of warning but for the cd it had faulty module. And that means?
