I left my computer on last night. I was awaken in the middle of the night with the computer making beeping noises, I thought it was my alarm. It just kept beeping over and over. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. I checked the monitor and I *believe* (it was 2:30am I don't 100% remember) that it said something like.. 'Check system cable' or something similar.

I turned off the computer and the beeping computer, then I unplugged it and the beeping finally stopped. I plugged it back in and it stayed quiet. Then I went back to bed.

This morning when I try to boot up the computer, I get to the point where it checks my ram, but it doesn't show the numbers.. just says 'Memory check:' without any numbers after it. At this point I try to go in safe mode or the BIOS, but can't get into either. The screen just sits where it is.

When I get home from work today I'm going to open the case and see if there are any cables loose or unattached. Anyone have any other ideas on what the problem could be?

A memory chip could have died or a piece of hardware malfunctioned. What happened when you opened your computer?
