Hi there,

I would like to know which of the CPUs below are better for gaming.

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E8400 Dual Core Processor(3.0GHz,6MB Cache,1333MHz)

Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core Processor(2.4GHz,8MB Cache,1066MHz)

Thanks,
Cornzey

Generally speaking, dual core's are better for gaming. This is not always true, but usually. I would go with the E8400 and overclock it. My reasoning behind this is it has a high clock and a higher FSB. smile.gif

If I went for the Quad core and overclocked it, would I need to improve the CPU cooling?

Thanks,

It depends how much you overclock it. If you're just adjusting the fsb and not doing any voltage changing, you'll probably be alright. It's a good idea to buy some Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste and use it instead of the crummy thermal paste that already comes on the processor.
