Here are my internet specs: Sygate Personal Firewall, Avast!, DSL connection w/no modem. When opening My Network Places, I found some folders I've never heard of/put there. c on chad1 (davidshome) Shared docs on 8nvli, Shared docs on Main (Gretchen), Shared docs on Main (Shelly), Shared docs on Rntshank

What are these folders? Is this some kind of sample windows thing, or is someone accessing my computer??

Hello Raydanator,

It certainly is not a sample provided by windows. There are two main possibilities...

1. Your computer is searching for shared resources on your network.
2. Someone is accessing your network or system.

Do the names look familiar?
Check the firewall event logs for unauthorised access just to be sure.

Have you ever connected your computer to another network? It could also be that windows has found these in the past and has saved them in the cache from then, but check what nigglenush suggested to be sure.
