Ok so i built a new computer recently, heres the specs:

MSI AMD K9A2GM motheboard
XFX 8800 Geoforce Video card
350 MB Hard drive (EIDE)
generic DVD/CD-Rom drive
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core
600 watt power (thermal intake)

So whats happening is it starts up the DVD spins up and opens and closes but when i go to Bios niether the DVD nor the HD is detected
Im new to building computers so i really need some help

oh and on a side note I already tried multiple IDE cables and they none of them worked.

Thanks
dc3
Hi wreckless00, and welcome to BleepingComputer.

Are the two drives on the same IDE cable?

If they are, are they set as master and slave?

Is the IDE cable installed backwards, as you are looking at the rear of the drive the red stripe on the cable should be on the right.
