I get this message every time I start the computer.
Running Windows Vista Home Premium, can't find a version #
C:\Users\Nathaniel\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs is corrupt and unreadable. Please run Chkdsk utility
When this message began appearing I lost the Auto Complete function on IE but not on Firefox. I don't know if the there is a relationship or not. Auto Complete is selected.
I have run chkdsk without success in repairing the error.
I tried a system restore and get a message that says I can't run restore because of the corrupt file. It asks if I want to repair the corrupt file at the next restart. I selected this option and restarted but nothing changed. I repeated three times but nothing changed. Using System Restore was an attempt to recover Auto Complete.
I tried to open the list of start menu programs but instead of showing what is on the start menu I get a window with the same error message and can't go any farther.
Everything except Auto Complete appears to operate normally and I don't know how critical this particular corrupt file problem is.
I do know that I really miss Auto Complete.
Thanks in advance for all your expert help
