Hi,

I'm looking for a motherboard that has a AGP video card slot, AND has a dual-core processor socket (perferably AM2, but Intel dual core is OK if no there's none for AMD).

I couldn't find any on the internet , because i know AGP is considered outdated now, but i want to upgrade my system, but keep my current AGP video card.

Does anyone know of a MB that matches what i'm looking for? I'm looking for one that's relatively inexpensive (and that i can still buy).

Thanks a lot!

You want the impossible, and you want it cheap?!? You must be living right, check this out.

Edit: I would stick with the Biostar, that's personal opinion though.

just to clarify...AM2 socket means it can support AMD Athlon 64 X2 processors right? (so the MB u showed me can use AMD Athlon 64 X2 processors)? because on the page it only said "Athlon 64'", so i want to make sure.

and Biostar is a good motherboard manufacturer as well?

Thanks.
PS I like your sense of humour smile.gif

You'd have a wider selection...if you just went to an AM2 board with onboard video (which is perfectly fine for routine use).

You have an AGP card that you use for gaming? What's the fascination with using your AGP card?

Yes i know i would have a larger selection (wayy larger) if i didn't have the AGP requirement..

my video card isn't "fantastic", but since i have one that's perfectly fine, i still want to use it, instead of leaving it in the corner of my closet. (It also has TV out). I know the onboard ones are pretty good now, but some don't have TV out and/or dualoutput.

Funnytim, I built a computer with a Biostar TForce motherboard in November of 2006, and it hasn't had a problem since then. For an inexpensive board they're hard to beat.

You initially had written that you were looking for a motherboard that had a AGP socket, and would support a AMD AM2. All three of those motherboards will support the AMD Athlon 64 Semporn. If you have changed you mind and wish to use a Athlon 64 X2 or FX you will have to go with the MSI. These are the only three motherboards that Newegg carries that support AMD and have a AGP socket.

The Biostar motherboards both have onboard audio and video. The MSI only has onboard audio.

Alright, Thanks a lot!

Another question..is MSI a "reliable/dependable/quality" computer manufacturing company as well?

What is your video card?

Have you compared the specs of your AGP with those of motherboards with onboard video. depending on you video card, you may find that the onboard video of some of the new motherboards are as good or better than your dedicated card.

Why are you locked in on a AMD CPU?

My video card: "HIS Radeon 9550": http://www.hisdigital.com/html/product_ov....30&view=yes

That's a good idea actually, I haven't compared the specs.

I just don't want to waste my video card. Also it has S-Video out which I do use frequently (showing pics to friends on tv, etc).

I could go with Intel too, but AMD processors seem to be cheaper.
