Here's the issue, I'm sure some of you have seen it before.

I have a linksys wrt54g that's been upgraded with dd-wrt. I'm trying to get it to pick up our verizon dsl's signal (westell model).
The dsl is on the main floor, and the linksys will be upstairs in my bedroom.

I've tried several tutorials to get it to work, but I think I might not be tech savvy enough to really understand if I doing something wrong.
I think I need someone to walk me through it. (maybe even with screencaps! lol) I've read that it can be done, I just cant seem to get it to work.
I've tried 3 or 4 times now. There are multiple laptops getting the dsl signal as well as one pc wired to it. (i don't know if that makes a difference?)

And no, exchanging it so that the dsl is the bridge in my room is not an option (not my choice. if it were up to me, i'd do it).
I'd like to try to get this done so I don't have to put out more money for more devices if I already have everything I need.
