I had no problems at hotspot areas just 10 days ago. Now, my wireless activity states I
am connected but my internet explorer will not open to access internet browsing.
Has anyone encountered this problem before? I cannot find answers from
anyone about this...I have Vista Home Basic, ugh...what next?

Have figured out solution to hotspot wireless problem: Click to internet options, click connections, click LAN settings; then unclickthe box
which states: Use a proxy server for your LAN.

I figured this out by hit and miss. I have no idea how the box became checked.

Yes, that's a common cause for failures when computers are used in multiple places. Some workplaces and some repair shops use a proxy server to block unauthorized use.

Thanks for letting us know!
