i got a 585W psu and not much else (1 e7200, 1 8800gt). im waiting on a mobo without the phased power feature. do u think i will suffer deadly vdroop?

Well, if the phased power feature is such a problem, you could probably disable it in the BIOS. Sorry, but I'm not really sure of what it is anyway.

I'm assuming since you mention vdroop, your afraid it might have problems coming back to proper clock speed and core voltage after underclocking and undervolting (or whatever you would call a voltage decrease) when it goes idle.

A high quality 585 Watt should be fine. Do you have a link to your power supply?

Motherboards have been using phase regulators for years, the old socket A motherboards used 2 phase regulators (the current load was spread over 4 MOSFET'S) and progressed to 3 phase regulators (the current load is spread over 6 MOSFET'S). Now days there are 8 phase and 12 phase regulators.

More phases equals smoother voltages and cooler operating temperature, this means longer life for the motherboard, and a more stable platform for overclocking.
