I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'll give it a shot -
Does anyone know if its legal to install software on a 2nd computer if it's uninstalled from the 1st machine?
I have a legally purchased copy of Office from a few years ago - I installed it on the family's desktop.
That desktop is slowly dying so I built a new machine.
I want to move Office to the new machine. Is it legal if I completely remove it from the 1st machine?
thanks in advance.

Here is a link to the EULA from MIcrosoft:
http://msdnaa.oit.umass.edu/Neula.aspNot being a lawyer, I am almost positive that you would need to purchase an additional license to validate installation to another machine legally. It is what it is...

An MSDN subscription license from the above link does not have the same conditions as a Retail license, which does not have the same conditions as an OEM license.
bat5454, your right to transfer the software legally to another machine will depend on what is specified in the EULA for the version and software type.
Boxed retail software can likely be legally transferred to a new system if the installation is removed from the old one. For example, the EULA for Office 2003 retail says:
"14. SOFTWARE TRANSFER. Internal. You may transfer your copy of the Software to a different device. After
the transfer, you must completely remove the Software from the former device."
