Full Version: Windows Defender Keeps Automatically Turning Off

ok so after a couple of hours the taskbar in the right pops out this thing and says i need to turn on my windows defender for safety or protection and i turn it on, then couple hours later it says i need to turn it on again. anyone know a solution?

Do you have Windows Live OneCare or some other antispyware program that may be causing this behavior? It's a known problem with the OneCare.

hi,,,, i wonder if a nasty is turning it off,,,, run a scan with this spyware scanner, download the free version

download and update it then activate (show) hidden files,, boot in safe mode and scan, it mite not be a nasty but some are set to turn off your security.

yes i do have windows onecare but this didn't happen before until i restored a backup

I don't think that there's a fix available (from this post: http://help.lockergnome.com/vista/live-one...opict41058.html )

The best suggestion that I read was to dump OneCare and get an antivirus program (check here for recommendations for free ones: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic3616.html ) and then enable Windows Defender and the Windows Firewall.
