I apologize if this is posted in the wrong place but, I have a friend who has brought me her laptop that according to her had been running slow on the internet and she got frustrated and hit it just to the right of the touchpad(it is unknown exactly how hard she hit it), but nopw it will not startat all, I have the power cord plugged in and get the external battery light and the power switch light at the same time but nothing else happens. If I remove the battery I get the same situation. I have already taken it apart to look for loose or broken connections and could not find any.

The computer is a Gateway Model:W323-UI1 according to the black sticker on the back or Model:MX3228 according to the sticker with the Serial number on it. It is running WinXPand a Celero M processor, unknown memory or other specs as I can not get it fired up and she does not have the documentation anymore.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar problem I had an old Dekstop and thats all I had at the time (I'm 15, no money cant replace broken stuffs) And I got a BIOS beep telling me that my Onboard Video card was dead. And I smacked my computer, unfortunatlly I didn't think about it until I hit it. I nailed the side with the motherboard on it

Anyways... I have looked at a Gateway laptop like that, same model. Unless I am mistaken she hit the motherboard, a moderate hit (Like mine) can do bad things. No boot up or backlight? Are you sure its not starting for about half a second and then gone? Could be a loose processor.

My experiances with laptops have never been plesant and I need to lean a little more on them (Thanks what im doing at the moment) I hope I helped a little.
