My computer won't start up and I'm getting the blue screen that says
"inaccessible boot device" and I've tried starting with safe mode and last known
good configuration. I have Windows 2000 Professional and also the installation disc
that goes along with it and none of the cables are out of place.

Enter the BIOS. This is usually done by rebooting the computer and tapping on the Delete key. Check and make sure the hard drive is recognized in the BIOS and it is set as the first boot device. There's the chance that the hard drive is bad
