I purchased a system with windows vista installed. I would like to know which items i can disable from starting up using the msconfig command to improve my systems performance without causing an application or the sytem not to perform properly.

Thanks in advance

Please do not use msconfig to control your startups. It's designed to be a troubleshooting tool, not a permanent solution.

That being said, you can open Windows Defender, select the Tools menu, then select Software Explorer. This will allow you to disable startup items easily.

Another alternative (but a bit more complicated) is the free Autoruns program from SysInternals: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx
