My laptop has mysteriously stopped working when trying to access the internet. I have checked all my router settings & even reinstalled my wireless PCMCIA card software/hardware.

I get a program error that prismsvr.exe has generated errors & will be closed by Windows. This error appears at every boot. Prismsvr.exe is to do with my Zoom network card. What are, if anything, program errors indicative of? I am checking disk for errors in the recovery console.

Any pointers much appreciated.

Sounds like the driver for the Zoom network card got corrupted. I'd try uninstall it and install the driver again

I have reinstalled the driver manually as well as using the manufacturers supplied CD for a complete uninstall/reinstall. Any other suggestions?

Open Device Manager, expand all of the +'s and look for any yellow exclamation points and see what's causing the problem

There are only two red X marks where I have disabled the infrared port & also the Zoom card as I am using the onboard Ethernet adaptor to connect as of the moment.

Any leads??? I really am flummoxed! Malware does not seem to be the case, having scanned it with everything under the sun.
