having just updated it ,I have done a scan with a2 which flagged up a possible worm;
C:\WINDOWS\DRWATSON.EXE detected: Worm.Win32.Netop.a
C:\WINDOWS\IPCONFIG.EXE detected: Worm.Win32.Netop.a
C:\win98\NET8.CAB/ipconfig.exe detected: Worm.Win32.Netop.a
C:\win98\WIN98_45.CAB/drwatson.exe detected: Worm.Win32.Netop.a

I am assuming at present that these ARE false possitives as all OTHER scans ( superantispyware, avg and spybot ) return as clean

to get it confirmed I am trying to upload a file to jottie ( or ?? virusscan?)

http://virusscan.jotti.org/

I have this open and browse to my a2 reports and click ON what I beleive to be the correct report; when I put that link In the window I do NOT get the submit tab light up; so what am I doing that is not right TO submit the file??? wacko.gif

From the two quotes it appears you are mixing and matching terms. Reports are not the suspected infected files that you want to upload. They are only output of data from a scan. Reports cannot be read as a possible infected file. You need to navigate to the actual file/s that are identified in the report/s and highlight those and upload them. Hope that helps.

I have sent an email TO emisoft . BUT; I tried navigating TO
C:\WINDOWS\IPCONFIG.EXE

I have sent an email TO emisoft ...and gotten a reply;

I am requested to 'atttach the files ' to the email

now I go to the 'if you do not ask you will never know the answer'........

my concern is

I am IN my Windows 98 folder on my C drive; I am asked to send specific files FROM that section TO emisoft

may be a simple answer but .....if I do send those files are they then removed from my computer

the answer may be obvious to someone but I confess NOT to me

what exactly WILL I be sending ?

Hi ruby1,

When you submit a system file you do not remove it from your computer any more than you remove a text file when you send that file as an attachment.

The computer sends an exact duplicate of the file.

Sorry about the double post, but in answer to your other question:

Here is the process of submitting a file to JottiScan or Virus Total.

You first open their website, you then click on the Browse button on their website. A window will open up. You navigate to the file in that window and click on it, then click the word Open in the lower right side of the window which will then close. This will put the file path in the appropriate place on the website. In VirusTotal, you then click on Send File located underneath the file window. In JottiScan, you click on the Submit button to the right of the browse button. These buttons will be present even before you click on the browse button.

Hope this helps,
