I've been having a couple of problems recently with my internet connection. I am currently in student halls and should have (have had in the past) around a 20mbps+ connection, but over the past couple of days I've been able to use it for around 10-15 minutes before it slows down to a crawl. I've been fixing this by simply removing the internet cable and plugging it back in, allowing the router to re-establish the connection, but does anyone know what could be causing it.

My setup:
2 computers (1 laptop, 1 desktop) both running Windows XP SP2 and using Firefox v2.0.0.14
Xbox 360
Router: Netgear RP614v4

Steps I've taken:

- Updated to the latest router firmware
- Spyware/Virus scanned both computers - both clean
- Clearing cache/temporary files/cookies

Has anyone got some suggestions on how to fix this issue?

I've managed to fix this (I think). It turns out I had a couple of trojans on my machine that came through he anti-virus software that the university makes us install (McAfee Enterprise v8.5i). Bit Defender and Panda ActiveScan picked them up and I managed to fix them without any real hassle (just had to do a restore from an old backup - thankfully I didn't have too much data to be saved).
