Ok this is a weird one for me
For the last few months my pc has been "moody" when i try to turn it on. sometime it fries up no prob other times it take several trys (sometimes 10 or more) now i get nothing except a littler filcker from the LEDs on the fans and no beeps. but the power led on the MB is on and does not turn off(unless i kill the power to the whole pc Duhh).

Any thoughts?
at this point im dreading having to Repalce the MB but i frear that is the prob

Unplug the computer and with the side off unplug the 24 (20) pin plug to the motherboard. plug the computer back in.Wwith a paper clip, or a stripped piece of wire, short the green wire to any black wire on the plug. The power supply should turn on and remain on

i just tryed the short trice and all i got was a faint click so yea

i replaced the power supply and the same thing happend

Did you use the new power cord that came with your power supply or just keep the old one connected? If you didn't use the new one, try the new power supply and power cord.

did you short out the new supply like Mark had you do to the old one? see if maybe you got a bad new one? I'd try plugging it in in a different room also before you got to turn your attention to the motherboard. could be an iffy outlet/circuit.

Unplug all of the leads from the power supply and then try shorting it out. Try doing it at a different outlet
Make sure you turned the switch on in the back of the unit. I've done that a few times
Most newer power supplies have a reset, when you unplug it and turn the switch in the back off than back on it will reset. That would mean a possible short some where

well it wasent the power supply there is an issue iwth the MB as when i unplug the 4pin power cable for the cpu it fired right but when i pluged it back in there was a small arc in the conector port and the whole thing shut down so yea looks like im out of luck in the quick fix department. full rebuild here i come!!!

(im still open to othere ideas)
