My girlfriends new laptop came installed with Vista Basic. We have installed Limewire Pro on the system but it will not connect to the internet. It just sticks. The program worked fine on her XP Laptop.

I have checked the Firewall settings etc etc but eveything is fine. I've reinstalled Limewire about 5 times but never connects ever!

Any ideas please thumbup2.gif

When you went to install it, did you right click and 'Run as Administrator'?

I find unless you do this with Vista, strange things can happen which never occured in XP.

LimeWire not connecting is a very well known issue so while you're surfing the gnutella forums check out the LimeWire not connecting topics. There is lots of troubleshooters smile.gif

for various reasons I do not advocate using any P2P program on a computer

however, this link

Instead of spending $21.95 you can switch to Frostwire.

FrostWire is a high quality and totally FREE LimeWire PRO alternative.

Hmmm. Thought your link to Frostwire was worth a look. Have now installed FW and removed LimeWire Pro. They are the same program with a different color scheme but FrostWire has extra features.

I suggest if you've paid for pro use it and get your money's worth. There are known connectivity problems with all P2P applications anf if LimeWire is what floats your boat, keep it smile.gif
