I like the idea BUT maybe a 'safer' solution is to keep keylogger infections OFF one's computer to start with whistling.gif

it is , dare I suggest, far easier to keep clean than to GET clean once you are infected crazy.gif

(and a PS; if you have thought OF this 'solution'...so to will they have already thought of a way around it wacko.gif )

How could the average ID10T PC user know if a Key-logger was present on his / her PC in the first place irrespective of what operating system they have.
For me I'm using whistling.gif Windows ME

Simple, use a firewall like Online Armor that detects keyloggers, OA has a free version. http://www.tallemu.com. Then use a reliable anti-virus solution like Kaspersky or NOD32 and you're all set.

Its genius; but you can't always paste passwords.
Doctor Inferno
The easiest way is to download a spyware remover such as Spyware Doctor and remove it, instead of playing around with it risking precious information.

Nor can you assume that the only function of a keylogger is to read keystrokes. Keylogger has pretty much become a generic term for 'usage monitoring software'.

I guess it is not practical to be doing this all the time on your personal computer, otherwise life would be too complicated!

But I like the idea, which I think could be used if your are typing passwords on other computers, and you feel the system is unsecure. Let's say for example, at the Internet Cafe, College or at the Library. You simply insert the USB and paste the password from there. No trouble. You could save all your passwords there I guess with an obscure description so that only you can understand...

But someone might wonder what if you lose the USB... isn't that a security problem. No, because what would a password do without the username it is associated with?! Or maybe you could use encryption for added security...

Thelastleap, you better copyright the idea before someone else steals it!

@thelast leap

HAVE you gotten an infection on there but are hesitant to seek full help on removing it whistling.gif

if you HAVE a keylogger on there or suspect that you do , you do need to do something about it and not just chose to ignore it wacko.gif

A computer program that captures the keystrokes of a computer user and stores them. Modern keyloggers can store additional information, such as images of the user’s screen. Most malicious keyloggers send this data to a third party remotely (such as via email).
