Anyway my card reader on my computer died(somewhat) today. I was installing Alcohol 120% when it said it needed to change some drivers. Anyway, after restarting, my first card reader doesn't show up anymore,
I've already e-mail them and I'm waiting for their response. The usb port on the card reader works and my second card reader also works. Both are integrated card readers(although the one that has issues is the newer one and the older one still works) The light on the broken one doesn't turn on anymore.
I've already checked the logic disk manager and the device manager. The card reader doesn't show up at all. Not the SD slot nor the CF slot.
Using Windows XP SP2. Prior to installing the Alcohol 120%, both card readers work just fine.
And no I do not need an extra dangling USB Card reader, when I have a free slot on my comp.

I'm guessing that what you are referring to is a PCI card reader? Have you tried uninstalling it, cycling the computer on and off, reinstalling the card to see if the installation wizard recognizes it?

PCI? I'm using internal USB port . Its basically like that (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820300608). I don't see how I would uninstall it if I can't find it under either case, unless your referring to add/remove programs.
Ok I found where the first card reader is located. The computer considers it a storage volume. Any way to change this? I can't roll back the drivers...
More information is always better when you describe your situation. There are two types of internal card readers.
To uninstall the reader turn off the computer and disconnect the power and data connections from the card read. If you cycle the computer on and back off, reconnect the power and data connection and power it back up, windows should recognize it as new hardware. Let it install this.

It works now. I uninstalled the drivers and cycled the computer. Thanks!
