Ok, as they all say, forgive me for beng a noob here!
However i have just started using Ubuntu 7.10 on my Acer laptop, and although i have a LAN connection i cannot get the WLAN working, ive tried to follow instructions on the web but get lost at parts due to them not be overly clear.
Can anyone point me to a good help topic/site/page or even detail what i need to do ?
Thanks

What kind of wireless card is it? Acer uses Atheros cards in a lot of there laptops so thats likely.

A google search of your laptop model turned up
this review with the wireless card model listed down the page. It's a Broadcom 802.11G Wireless Adapter Broadcom's are know for working bad but it can be done. I found instructions here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/...1_(ndiswrapper) There kinda long but they should work they also require internet access but LAN works so that should be no problem.

Before playing with ndiswrapper (most overrated piece of software ever), try turning on the Restricted Drivers Manager (look under System-> Administration).
That should install the Broadcom firmware and driver automagically.
