I successfully updated in Firefox and Opera, but IE7 wouldn't allow it. If anyone has a similar problem, the fix is here:

Thanks again,
I checked my Control Panel and found that I still had the old version installed! I have run the uninstaller and then re-installed, following the instructions in the link. Now got the latest version.
But just one question for confirmation... does one have to install separately for other web browsers, i.e. Firefox or is this installation from Internet Explorer 7 sufficient?

It would appear that you have to install for IE, and again the plugin for FireFox (which will include Opera).
When you go to Adobe, your browser will be automatically detected and the correct version offered.
