Full Version: Other Os Check On Vista?

Hi,

I'm a newbie to using Vista and I find that in "Boot" under "System Configuration" Vista doesn't have an OS check like XP does.

So, how am I to get Vista to find the other XP OS on a different HD so that I can have a choice of OS to choose at boot time?

I've looked around for an OS but don't seem to be able to find anything in Vista.

Anyone?

Thanks.

You need to use bcdedit to deal with Vista's bootloader, and it is a command line only utility.

This may be useful: http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista...3.mspx?mfr=true

OK,

I've re-installed my XP on the same drive because it was acting like an old TV, washing out and closing all the time.

I was able to access it before I put my Vista Instillation CD in to repair start up to let me include the Vista Instillation.

I now can access Vista but nothing else.

I've use Vista Boot Pro and EasyBCD to try to regain access to the newly installed XP but natta, nothing. No matter what I do I can't regain access to the newly installed XP.

Does anyone know what might be wrong here and what to do with it?

Man, I'd like to get this down once and for all!
