I have a Sony Vaio and to start with it was fine. I haven't changed any settings but I now get a pop up every time I start the laptop. It says:

C:Program FilesSonyVAIO Cooperated InitialisationVCI_Task.exe
Windows cannot find 'C:Program FilesSonyVAIO Cooperated InitialisationVCI_Task.exe' Make sure you have typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

This is before I touch any keys, it's always there. As soon as I click OK it goes and the laptop runs fine, but I was just wondering why it comes up and how I can stop it.

Thanks for your help... wacko.gif

Most likely this is a startup entry that Windows is trying to launch. Because it cannot find the program mentioned above, it's giving you an error message.

Use Windows Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Cooperated Initialisation\VCI_Task.exe and see if the file "VCI_Task.exe" is located in the VAIO Cooperated Initialisation folder. If it's not there, then this is the cause of the error message. If it is there, then we'll have to do some more troubleshooting.

You can remove the error by using this free tool: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx

In the Everything tab, scroll down the Image Names column until you come to the entry that states "C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Cooperated Initialisation\VCI_Task.exe" - then remove the check mark on the left side of that line and exit the program. Reboot and the error message should be gone.
