I have inadvertently deleted the partitions on my hard drive (20gb partitioned into 4 5gb partitions). There was a partial format as well. I need to restore this drive back. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Can you be a little more descriptive? Are you able to boot into Windows at all? What does the computer do when you turn it on and what errors does it give you? If you're hoping to recover files, you can put the drive in another computer or use a USB enclosure to attempt to retrieve them

I have the drive as a second drive and windows does not even see it so I cannot boot into it. I'm sorry, it has/had winows 98.

When you boot the machine does the drive show up in the BIOS? You have the jumpers set correctly, yes?

Once a disk has been formatted, all of the disk is set to 0s, meaning data recovery through software is not possible. (Assuming the (default) full format mode). Quick format does not reset to 0.

To my knowledge, if the system was not full formatted, something like TestDisk may be able to recover your partition table, though I have not ever tried it myself.
