You might have overheating problems. If the card has been in your system for 3 years without cleaning, there's probably a huge build up of dust on it. Some of the ATI 550 cards don't even have fans on them, to help keep them cool. Open up your case and spray some (preferably canned) air through the graphics card.

Most Ati X550's probrably don't have a fan on them, and if they do it's usualy not the biggest.

A few questions

- Does everyhing but games work find? Like videos, spreadsheets, web surfing?

- Is it game specific, only one game give you that error?

After 3 years, you may have to dig for your card in that case, just kidding! But be ready for a dust attack!

I'd go with Sterling14's suggestion as well since it can't hurt and some of those cards do actually get hot.

A dust problem that would be my guess.

Well...I think it would be helpful to know what games you intend to play on this system. Seems the logical way to go about it, see what the game recommendations are...then increase smile.gif.
