Full Version: Cd-rom Drive Not Working

Hello I have a gateway with windows xp.My cd-rom drive quit working. I put a cd in and the light blinks like normal and the cd spins but stops and media player does not pop up. I tried to run D: drive in run and it says please insert a disk. Put in a disk still please insert a disk. I tryed to run Drive D in safe mode and same thing. Any thoughts do I need a new cd-rom.I tryed cleaning with air duster bo luck. Also it a lite-on LTR-48246S .

Sounds like either the laser is really dirty or its dead. You could try opening the drive up and cleaning the Laser with rubbing alcohol. Thats about the last resort.

Try cleaning the CD you inserted?

Try playing a music CD?

When all else fails try deleting the upper and lower filter keys
