My computer occasionally freezes up. The cursor just stops, keyboard unresponsive. Re-boot to get going again. Nothing I have noticed seems to cause it. it is random. Sometimes weeks with nothing others time twice a day.

Help please.

unfortunaltey you do not say which windows version you are running, which antivirus program you use, and which other protection, when all last updated and run on full deep scans
what basic housekeeping have you so far done on the computer?
this information will help to see what to suggest for you to try

NT 2000 Professsional. Freezes when trying to play .wmv vids. Even when associated with WMP. Freezes when using GOMplayer, too. Finally dis-associated .wmv's from any program using folder options I believe.Using Avirus now, would do the same thing with AVG 7.5. I thought of conflicting programs, so disabled WMP. No change, no matter what codecs I've tried.
