I have a new dell m1330 laptop a got about a month ago. I have recently been receiving messages about corrupted files. It says to run "chkdsk" which I did. It showed several attributes were corrupted. When I tried to fix them, I got an error that it can't be fixed while the computer is running and that it would fix it upon my next reboot. After the reboot, it never fixed the corrupt file.

I downloaded combofix, which found additional corrupted files.

Please help, I not very computer savy and im afaid im going to ruin my computer if I keep messing with it

There are differences to the way you can run chkdsk. You need to be certain you use a least 1 switch. I usually use the /r, which will allow chkdsk to repair any problems it finds. To see all of the switches, do a CHKDSK /?.

I would first try doing another chkdsk, from a command line and with at least switch /r.

BTW. ComboFix is not intended to fix corrupted files and is not for the inexperienced to use. It can really mess up your system if not used properly.

Good luck. thumbup2.gif
