I've been trying to uninstall Adobe Acrobat 6.0 since it is not supported by Windows Vista. I've followed the typical uninstall routine and get the following error message: "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." And then, "You do not have sufficient access to uninstall Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard. Please contact your system administrator."

I am the system administrator. Grrr.

Anyway, I know that to run a program as administrator, you go to the program file or shortcut, right click and choose "Run as administrator", but there is no option for "uninstall as administrator" that I can find.

I've googled my brains out on this trying to find an answer with no luck. Hopefully someone can help me.

Have you tried to locate the uninstaller and run it as an administrator?
Have you tried other uninstall tools - such as the one in CCleaner?

usasma, that first thing, finding the uninstall and running it as administrator, how does one do that?

Solved! My friend told me to do the following and it worked:

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. In Control Panel, click User Accounts.
3. In the User Accounts window, click User Accounts.
4. In the User Accounts tasks window, click Turn User Account Control on or off.
5. If UAC is currently configured in Admin Approval Mode, the User Account Control message appears. Click Continue.
6. Clear the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box, and then click OK.
7. Click Restart Now to apply the change right away, or click Restart Later and close the User Accounts tasks window.
