I bought a linksys wireless_ G broadband router with speedbooster however I find that videos on you tube dont play properly and they seem to stop and pause for a few seconds and start back up.

The router I have is a Linksys WRT54GS which I bought last week so I can still return it to future shop if I can find a better 802.11g G router thats also works with 802.11b so that I can use the wireless connection with my IBM thinkpad which is a b class.

The router I bought was priced at $119.99 however it was on sale for $79.99 so i bought it thinking it would work well however when it comes to video it isnt very good.

Are there better routers than the one I have for playing you tube videos...seems like everyone in the family likes watching you tube videos so I need to find a better router or just forget about wireless all together.

Thanks for any help.

It's been my experience (at home) that wireless seems slower than wired on my connection.

That being said, if you've got a "Speedboost" modem, then you'll need a "Speedboost" card in your computer to take advantage of that. If your computer is only broadcasting at "g" speeds it likely can't take advantage of the Speedboost stuff.

I think I might just forget about wireless networking...I may end up getting a wired router instead to hook up more puters in the house...wireless is a bit overrated I think.

Wireless is great - within it's limitations. But wired is more secure and easier (IMO) to hook up. The downside is running all those wires around the house.

I did it at my house and everything on the top floor is wired (because I could drop wires through the attic). I can't easily wire anything on the bottom floor because it's too difficult to poke holes in the walls to run cables between the floors.
