I have been using Pinnacle Studio software for putting my camcorder footage onto DVD but because of constant problems with the sound dropping out of the captured video I'm considering buying some different movie capturing/eding software.

Can anyone recommend anything?

I used Ulead Video Studio & Windows Movie Maker before which were quite good. I have now found great software for making home videos.

Let me recommend Sony Vegas. It may seem a bit complicated to begin with but is very good at capturing video & editing.

Video capture is tricky, your hardware and method can cause that problem, how are you doing the capture?
