I've run across a regedit for removing the annoying little search box in IE7.

Yep, I know regedits are NOT recommended, and I know to back up my registry before messing around in there. smile.gif But what I'm wondering is if you folks familiar with the registry can tell me if the regedit itself appears to be relatively safe. Thanks!

Remember REG TWEAKS CAN RENDER YOUR SYSTEM INOPERABLE!

Think of it like working on an engine in a car. That is in essence what the registry is. Windows engine.
You dont mess with your car unless you know what you are doing, right?
Same applies to the registry!

Regedit is relatively safe. IF used correctly. However, use all registry tweaks at your own risk!

LOL, Eyesee, I guess I deserved that oft-stated reminder for not making myself clear in the first place. blush.gif

Given that I'm aware of the dangers, what I really wanted to know was if the specific edit that I linked to looked safe.

Although I don't like to, I've edited the registry on occasion, and I'm always willing to back out without making any changes if I'm not absolutely sure of myself.

Thanks.

Thanks Dialer,

Thats one of the main points I got rid of IE7, still I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon, I've spent ages altering things in the registry and know quite a few things about it now, I find thats the best way to learn.
