Can anyone help me find out exactly what you get in Visual Studio 2008 Pro? I have studio ver 6 and I just want to know if I still get VB VC++ etc.

With Visual Studio 2008 you can get C#, VB.NET, VC++ .NET, J# and many tools. Your VB will be converted into VB.NET. You can keep your VC++ as native code or converted it into managed code with VC++ .Net.

So your saying it will convert your VB6 apps to VB.Net?

I don't think so.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Because after I open all of my VB6 apps with Visual Studio 2005 (or 2008), they are all be converted to VB.NET. The compiled files must run with .net Framework. I think they are all changed to VB.NET, aren't they???

I'm not suree rongchaua all as I'm going by is what I read in other VB forums. people have been using VB6 for years and now have VB.Net and they ask is there a program that will convert the code from one to another and all the answers I've seen is NO.

I don't use VB.Net because I love VB6, I've used it for 14 years.

Ah, I understand now what you mean. There is no perfect tool to convert from VB6 to VB.NET. The converter makes always with error. I must always fix the projects manually after I use Visual Studio 2005 (2008) to open a project written in VB6. And after that, my project will be seen as VB.NET (not VB6 any more). Therefore I have said that VB6 would be converted into VB.NET.


You must be a master of VB. My company also uses VB 6 for our products. But we are changing all of them to VB.NET/C# from last years because with .net we can develop faster and more reliable...
