Hi,
Sorry to hear about that. Gets frustrating, doesn't it? What make/model computer are you running? Do you get a bluescreen for a few seconds before it shuts down? Any newly installed software or hardware could be causing the issue. If this happened immediately after coming out of the box, you should be able to send it back for repair or exchange. If I got a new laptop, didn't touch the thing or install something that may cause issues, and it started rebooting or shutting down 24/7, I'd send it right back. If you installed anything, make sure it's compatible with vista. If it isn't - uninstall it and look for a different program that fits your needs. Newly installed hardware can also cause that. Are you tech savvy? May sound too simple, but if this is a laptop - make sure it's getting power and the battery is charged. Forgive me if I offend you in any way, but I've seen people not too familiar with computers have issues like this. Computer low on battery will turn on most of the time, but since there's no power it immediately will power down.
Since a vass aray of things could be causing this issue - I would contact the computer manufacturer first. They can help better because it's their product, and chances are someone else has experienced your same issue and they have articles on causes/solutions. Good luck!

hi ,,, as i understand it your pc is shutting down in the propper manor & not crashing, if this is the case it could be set to shut down automatically after 10 mins,,, i know you could set xp to shut down after a specific time, i think vista has it too in power settings and lid,,,, click on controle pannel then power options then look for the power plan your using (it will have a check mark in the circle) then click on change plan settings,,, then in the ,,,, put computer to sleep,,,, change this to never.
good luck
