According to Autoruns this is a bad file and should not be starting up.
Can someone double check on this for me because I am new at this Autoruns and your Startup database.
I do log on to my computer although I am the only one using it at home. I do not want to mess up my ability to log on.

I'm not sure why autoruns is reporting it as a problem, but the file c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe is required by windows. You are right about keeping this file! I suppose you could submit the file to a free online scanner to be sure.

If you are the cautious type, you could run ERUNT to backup your registry configuration before making changes to startup items. I have ERUNT run automatically on logon for my pc - it works great.
