Alrighty I need help choosing the right internal 500GB hd for a external hd I am building.......I don't know what the difference is between these except for the cache sizes...so help me out and tell me which would be the best..I am a seagate guy but if you can convince to another such as WD, I'd be fine with it but I really do like Seagate and the perpendicular record. technology....

Here's what i have in mind

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) ST3500630AS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache $110

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache $125

Seagate ST3500631NS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache $120

Also, I think it has to do with cache, but why the difference in price?
AND
What are the advantages/disadvantages between the 2 different cache sizes?

Hitachi seems to be the choice of the week for large drives.
Never liked those drives.
For a small fast cheap solution I agree, the barracuda performs great. Keep an eye on the seek times though they might perform different in praxis.
Have a look at some of the hardware review sites, likes toms hardware.

Just a few cents. smile.gif
