I watch my temps a lot, and everything has always seemed pretty fair. I've heard that a Core 2 Duo E6300 is fine around 45C, but what reading is this?

I've always used SpeedFan for my temp readings, and it gives me around 38-45C, depending on load. I got Intel's thermal analysis tool, which apparently reads differently, and that's higher. According to something I read, SpeedFan reads around the core, while Intel's tool gets the core temp itself. Which one should I go with?

The other is showing much higher, about 60C for each core at any given time, so I don't want to end up pushing it too much. Which are people generally referring to when they say that xx is a good temp?

This looks like a good read on the issue
