So I installed Windows Vista x86 Ultimate Version on my Hp a420n Pavilion today. I had backed everything up, my personal files, prior to installing and decided to do a fresh new install rather than an upgrade. Each step went though fine and after it finished installing it took me to the start screens to select the date/time and to pick a user name. I did that pressed ok and it said 'shutting down'. So it shut down, computer shows its booting information then it turns off again and just keeps doing this over and over, never booting up windows, just cycles through..

I left my Vista DVD in the drive and it gives me the quick option to boot from cd. If I do that it goes to the setup screen where I can also choose different repair options. I've tried the repair options it says it can not find any errors the OS booted succesfully.

Anyways I seriously need some help.. Any suggestions are very much appreciated, if you have any questions I'll do my best to respond with the right answers. Thank you ahead of time!

I suspect that there's a component in your PC that is incompatible with Windows Vista. The HP support site doesn't list any Vista drivers for this PC.

Can you boot into Safe Mode? You may be able to search out the manufacturer's of each device in order to download Vista compatible drivers from there. Here's a link to your system's specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...;product=388431
