I'd first suggest trying these free, online scans to see if your security has been breached by malware:

Thanks for the reply usasma, but these scann's are not vista compat. I have scanned my pc in safe mode with Spyware Doc, Superantispyware & Norton Int Sec and found nothing, there are also no visable sign's of malware, like an unotheriseed program trying to get in or out & no prog's on taskmanager useing a lot of power & i opened my web browser and nothing got hijacked, i've had a couple of nasty trojans befor from p2p sites and my pc is not acting like its got anything nasty at work,,,, i'll keep checking though,, once again thanks,,,,,Ian

The first one is Vista compatible but must use IE in order to work. The second one also works in IE (I didn't bother to install Java into my Firefox).

I recommended the scans because malware can corrupt the protection that is installed on your system and make it give false results.

Another issue could be the removal of malware - it can cause as many problems as the viruses themselves. This is because the viruses damage critical Windows files that the anti-virus programs can't repair. The fix for this is a Windows repair - here's a link for that: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html

Thanks for the reply again usasma, i was using firefox, i'll try ie insted, i did an error check on the hard drive then restarted it a couple of times an it was ok but i'll still run the checks on your links. As 4 my other post i think it's probley related to this one, i've put the three finger salute back on aswell on start up and all seems to be ok,,,, thanks ,,,,Ian

Hi usasma, i ran the win one care prog that you recomended, it found no bugs but there were a few issues with the system, so it created a restor point and fixed them for me.
Everything has been fine since, apart for the sleep mode thing which i think is a seporate issue with vista as i googled it & it seems to be a common problem with this addition, they say wait for a fix by microsoft,,,,, but thanks for your help once again,,,,,,Ian

I'd recommend that you update your nVidia video drivers with this latest driver: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_163.69.html
