I have internet explorer as well as Mozilla Firefox on my new Vista, and I never use internet explorer. I prefer Firefox. When I came home from work yesterday, internet explorer was open everywhere!!!! There were pages that said I had 67 viruses, needed to run a spyware scan, my system was crashing, my disk was full, and all this other stuff. I knew it was a hoax, so I never clicked on any of it. Well, come to find out my fiance (who is quite slow on the computer) got worried and clicked on them, and now when we close a window in internet explorer, a pop-up opens and says "Release" and the only option (other than "X"ing out of it) is to say OK. Well, I close out of it, but it's annoying. Also, I ran ad-aware scans, mcafee scans, avg scans, and spybot scans, and deleted the files when they were presented, but there are a few that say I do not have permission to delete them. My computer is running incredibly slow for its age (I got it in early April), so I'm a little worried it's filled with bad stuff. Please help!!!!!!!!!

Install Super Antispyware. Run it in safe mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.
