I'm building myself a new system and I'm not sure what video card to get.
I don't want to spend more than $150.
I intend to dual-boot windows and linux, using linux for most day-to-day stuff, so I need an nVidia card, unless ATI has recently become a lot better supported on linux. I don't think it has.
I only boot into windows for games, and the most recent game I have is Oblivion. If the card can handle that decently, it's good for me.
I would like to try to do fancy media-center-ish A/V stuff with this computer: recording TV shows, TV output, etc. I've never done it before and I don't know how interested I'd be in practice, but I'd like for the card to have a built in TV tuner, unless it would be cheaper to buy one separately. It also needs to be supported with linux.
I'd like a passively-cooled card if possible; if it has a fan it needs to be very quiet, since I intend to leave the computer on all the time and in the same room I sleep in.
So, what video card(s) should I be looking at?
