A friend gave this monitor to me last weekend. He was about to throw it away. Here is the skinny:

It powers up, and when it does, you can see the ACER logo, but that's the extent of what it does. It goes completely blank after that. The power button stays lit up green, but nothing else can be done. I have pressed the 5 buttons up front, but to no avail.

can only suggest you may need additional drivers depending on the OS u are using. On board graphics or have u a graphic card in a PCI slot. Would be an idea to try the ACER on another machine to proove if there was a reason for getting rid of the card - sorry i cannot help otherwise

Well, it worke3d for him for along time, then it quit working. He swapped the video card, still not working. Got a new monitor, worked fine.

BTW, why would it need a driver? It's a simple PnP VGA monitor.

If you can try that monitor on another PC and it continues to do the same thing (which I suspect it will) then you should feel reasonably certain that the monitor has a problem.

It sound like it is not able to recieve a signal from the video card. What you are describing, sounds llke exactly what you would see on that monitor if it wasn't plugged into a video source at all. It sounds like the internal Acer monitor visuals are all you can get.

There's an outside chance it is a problem with the cable. If you can try another cable, that might be worth a try, too.

Good news. I contacted Acer, and it's still under Warranty. I am going to ship it off this week, maybe tommorrow, to get it fixed. I just hope packing and shipping doesn't cost me too terribly much.

I hate to be a bearer of bad news, but often shipping and handling costs exceed the costs of purchasing a new monitor.
Especially if one is paying for the "round trip". Depends on where one lives, etc.
