Another tip I would give would be not to set your ambitions too high early on. Don't expect to make your game after reading 30 minutes of text.
Also, a book promising quick-learning of a language is simply a gimmick. In 24 hours you can master the structure of a basic program, and the fact that variables come in forms of characters, short integers, long integers, floating points, and strings.
Books that will be most beneficial to you are ones that promise to teach you the language, one step at a time.
Do you know of any such books at say a 9th grad reading level??
(I'm only a 9th grader, and know a small bit of VB6[Looking to learn more, but I don't know anyone with more knowledge than me that would help me.] but I'm also looking to learn C++. I've seen a few tuts that explain it, but they're
way over my head.
